Nirmala Sitharaman To Attend Bankers' Conclave In Nagaland Today

Kohima: According to officials, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit a state-run higher secondary school to speak with students on Tuesday and attend a bankers’ convention here.

Ms. Sitharaman is scheduled to visit the remote Mon district on Tuesday morning to open a branch of a private bank while on a three-day tour of the northeastern state.

As part of corporate social responsibility, the minister on Monday launched 52 projects in Nagaland that would be supported by various businesses (CSR).

According to officials, the majority of the projects are focused on the growth of the health, education, skill, and entrepreneurship sectors.

More than 100 corporate delegates and investors are attending this three-day CSR and Investment Conclave, which Ms. Sitharaman inaugurated the initiatives during the opening ceremony.

She bemoaned the fact that Nagaland hasn’t received enough CSR funding, claiming that businesses and industries should automatically choose the northeastern state.
